Penetrations or openings for ducts, vents, electrical outlets, lighting, devices, luminaires, wires, speakers, drainage, piping and similar openings or penetrations shall be permitted.<ins class=\"diffins\"> Walls, columns, or other members supporting assemblies required to be protected by this section shall be provided protection equivalent to that provided for the floor.<\/ins><\/p>\n<ins class=\"diffins\"> <\/ins>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Exceptions:<\/strong><ins class=\"diffins\"> <\/ins>\n<ol class=\"diff-list\">\n<li class=\"normal\">Floor assemblies located directly over a space protected by an automatic sprinkler system in accordance with Section<del class=\"diffmod\"> P2904, NFPA 13D, or other approved equivalent sprinkler system<\/del><ins class=\"diffmod\">&nbsp;R313<\/ins>.<ins class=\"diffins\">.<\/ins><\/li>\n<li class=\"removed\"><del class=\"diffmod\">Floor assemblies located directly over a crawl space not intended for storage or fuel-fired appliances.<\/del><ins class=\"diffmod\"><\/ins><\/li>\n<li class=\"replacement\"><del class=\"diffmod\"><\/del><ins class=\"diffmod\">Floor assemblies required to be protected by R302.3, R302.6, or R302.7..<\/ins><\/li>\n<li class=\"normal\">Portions of floor assemblies shall be permitted to be unprotected where complying with the following:<ins class=\"diffins\"> <\/ins>\n<ol class=\"diff-list\">\n<li class=\"normal normal\"><del class=\"diffmod\"><\/del><ins class=\"diffmod\">A maximum of 150 square feet of floor assembly per story may be unprotected.
